There she was, smiling at me with her fair skin, freckly nose and beautiful big brown eyes. Immediately upon getting introduced, the little girl asks me if I could join her for a tea party. It was a sad reality that I had to graciously decline and postpone for another time, as my endless list of commitments ran through my mind giving little chance to spontaneous invitations. On my drive home, I couldn’t help but think of her. I made a commitment to myself that I would make that tea party very soon, as I knew the short days of waiting can feel like a lifetime for a little girl.
Coincidentally, her wonderful mother asked me if I could prepare flower crowns for a photo shoot she and her best friend (talented photographer of these images) were planning for their two daughters. Without hesitation, I said, “Oh yes! Of course!” It was then we all began to bring this sweet tea party to life.
For the next few days, we all excitedly collaborated ideas. Sending images of flowers, props, and treats and location ideas. Seeing what each other had, and who would bring what. Then one day the perfect mustard field was spotted, it was tucked away and untouched, a hidden gem of Sonoma County. We all knew it was the one.
The day came and my daughter and I pulled into the field. Two little girls in white dresses and cowgirl boos came running to the flower van. We all shared squeals and gasps as I revealed the crowns, the arrangements, the vases, cupcakes and macaroons. My heart smiled as I was brought back to the childhood enthusiasm of a carefree world where the simple pleasures delighted us.
There we were, three mothers with their three daughters in a mustard field in Sonoma County. We spent the rest of the afternoon playing in the setting sun, laughing, running in the field and indulging in sweet treats and breathing in the warm spring air.
We played until the sun went away and the air started to chill.
Sadly our tea party had to come to an end.
The day was a magical success. To see the happiness in their eyes would fill my hearts for days to come.

As with many couples, destination weddings are a dream come true. It was no exception with Meimei and Clifford’s breathtaking, Napa Valley, wedding. The lovely couple chose the serene Calistoga Ranch for the location to say, ‘I do’. The entire event was a fairytale, from the music, the décor, the menu, to the florals. The day was such a blissful time, bringing tears of joy to those who graced their presence.
The couple’s guests traveled far and wide to be a part of this memorable day. Sadly the Bride’s groom was unable to attend, but the moment she called him, the crowd was filled with emotion. What an incredible moment that filled the hearts of many.
I think it is safe to say the most memorable and perhaps favorite moment for many, if not all, was the groom’s serenade to his new bride. His talent shined and it was obvious that the performance was powered by love. It wasn’t a wonder he stole her heart.
The bride chose the vibrance of pink tones to capture your eye. Imported garden roses and spray roses in shades of blush, light pinks, medium pinks and touches of hot pink. The arrangements were full of pink hydrangeas, pink ranunculas, pink lisianthus, fushia stock and seasonal greenery. The florals added a vivid warm creating an inviting space to the ceremony and the reception.
The ceremony was held in the luscious greens of Napa Valley. They stood beneath the stunning floral archway filled with pink shades and a backdrop of rolling green hills to read their vows. The sun was high, the air was sweet and filled with love. The couple was showered with the silky touch of rose petals as they made their way down the aisle.
The day defined simple elegance. Let us create your dream event at Fleurs De France. We are dedicated to bring your vision to life with love.

When it comes to planning your dream wedding, it’s no doubt destination weddings are one of the most sought after wedding ideas. Destination weddings offer that extraordinary experience for your guests, from the warm sand and salty air to the sunsets over rolling hills in Napa Valley. When planning a destination wedding, consider they come with their own set of challenges. Fortunately, a great rule of thumb is to do your research and choose a great group of vendors.
I was thrilled when Ashley, a wedding planner, called to say she was getting married and asked me to create the floral arrangements for her own Destination wedding. She had already been following our events & photos for a long time, and knew she would call us when the time came. Ashley was the perfect bride; detail orientated, yet relaxed, super fun, and easy to work with. She did much of the planning of course, and I was excited that she was not afraid of some color for her flowers!
Ashley’s wedding was romantic, with flowing floral designs, blooms ranging from blush to rich medium pinks, celery green and touches of white, with natural foliage & accents of gold. Her wedding flowers; Peonies, hydrangeas, imported roses, spray roses, ranunculus, lisianthus and Queen Anne’s lace combined with touches of honeysuckle vines, were used in the bouquets and centerpieces. The cocktail table linens exuded a soft casual garden style, perfectly complimenting the color palette. We chose simple potted flowering plants to accent some of the cocktail tables, alternating small gold lanterns on others. A garland of lush greenery & flowers draped the front of the bride & groom’s table, where they sat together on a gorgeous loveseat. The rest of the dining tables were set with alternating centerpieces. Beautiful candelabras were ringed with greenery & floral garlands, while other tables had a lush centerpiece set in a gold vessel. Ashley and Christian’s Destination wedding at Jacuzzi Winery was a breathtaking vineyard wedding.

This magical winter wedding (it was an amazingly warm February day) at Napa Valley’s Meadowood Resort, was full of gorgeous details, romantic floral arrangements, & we were so excited with these exquisite photos captured by Coco Tran.
Floral arrangements in soft hues of cream, ivory & blush created the flowing and romantic vibe. White Sweet Peas, Quicksand Roses, White Lisianthus, trailing Jasmine, Eucalyptus, Japanese grown ranunculas (to replace peonies as it was too early in the season to procure any) were used for the bouquets, ceremony flowers & table centerpieces. There was a touch of glam, combined with vintage inspired pieces from the dining tables to the lounge furnishings, along with added lush textures of velvet and fur, that provided the perfect romantic setting. The dining tables were set with lace and accented with beautiful pink depression glass goblets, silver mercury glass vessels & candle holders. Incredibly beautiful custom menus were created that completed the table settings.
I loved working with this kind, warm and relaxed couple, & was inspired by their vision of warm romance and vintage elegance. The bride loved garden-inspired arrangements, and with all of the details she shared with me, from her exquisite lace dress, vintage accessories, to the gorgeous invitations, stationary and menus, it was easy to create the flower arrangements to truly carried the style throughout the event.
A little floral philosophy:
“Ask any florist, and they will tell you, the floral business can be a bit challenging at times, but here in Northern California I am fortunate to have access to the best & widest possible selections & a dedicated team of wholesalers with whom I have worked for many more years. My clients trust me implicitly, handing over their vision, and style, along with some inspiration images, dress swatches & any other details to be considered. They then let me create for them. I always explain to my clients how nothing is ever 100% certain in a floral designers world until one has arrived at the market at 4am to see what has arrived of the items one has ordered, and what condition the flowers are in, and then the real fun begins!
I equate flower shopping for each event with being a chef: looking at what is freshest and best at the market, seeking out those special ingredients, and checking the overall aesthetic and design as you go, similar to tasting one’s food creations as you cook. There are always lovely surprises, blooms, and products that were not there the week before, including items set aside for me by my vendors as they know what I like and am looking for. You have or will choose your wedding floral designer for a reason: you love their work! You trust and have a connection with them, and they “ get your vision!” Inspire your floral designer and then let them work their magic. Breathe, let go, and be giddy with anticipation! You will have wonderful, beautiful flowers!”

Wedding Flowers, Sonoma, Napa
There are various things that you need to take into consideration when pricing out your wedding flowers and choosing your floral designer. First know that this is truly a labor of love! From the time I get up at 1am to make the drive to San Francisco to hand pick each bloom for your event, the long hours of production, to the moment I hand you your bouquet, YOU and your wedding are the most important thing I am doing. There are many hours that lead up to the day, planning every detail. Each wedding is unique, the florals are custom designed for you.
Pricing and cost is important to every client so I want to demystify it a little bit & tell you how it really works.
Your style, size of your event, quality & types of flowers desired, along with the complexity of design, staffing and production hours are just all parts of the many components of pricing. The installation & breakdown of your event is also crucial, the staffing & timing, late night hours to breakdown an event, all must be impeccable, adequately staffed and there are many more hours involved in just this part that you can possibly imagine. We always breakdown our events at the end of the evening, no matter what time that is.
The Budget…it must be realistic, and I know this is hard sometimes to figure out as there are many variables, and not enough information available.
Flowers themselves are expensive no matter where they come from, whether local, seasonal or imported. Product quality is extremely important & my long-standing relationships with my wholesale vendors are key as well. Each type of flower has a certain price tag, and this is not always due necessarily to it seasonality. Local and seasonal products are often comparable in pricing to the imports. The local bunch of flowers might be a little bigger, giving us a few more blooms to work with, but the price differences are not anything substantial. Pricing has stabilzed over the past few years, meaning we do not experience the huge product price fluctuations as we did in the past, except for maybe around certain holidays like Valentine’s day, however flower prices have taken an unexpected 20% to 30% increase this past season (2012).
More often than not brides want to talk about “seasonal product”, thinking this means their flowers will be less expensive. This is not always the case. Also, if you think about it, “Seasonal” really means whatever is growing outside at that time in whatever color or shade is at the moment. Not every shade of every “Seasonal” flower (any any flower for that matter) is available every week. Most brides do not plan their wedding flowers or color palettes this way.
We are extremely privileged to have the San Francisco Flower Market as our main resource, one of the largest in the country. Here In California “Local” product comes from as far as Southern California to Washington State. Quite a lot of our product is imported. Flowers & pricing may be different than the rest of the country. In recent years things have changed quite a bit due to the global shipping of product from around the world. What was once considered a very seasonal product is now available sometimes year round, or during the opposite season (Like spring flowers in the fall) as it is spring somewhere in the world or the growers in other parts of the world have figured out where & how to grow things that are off season. The prices of these items in the “Off season” are not much more expensive than during their normal season. The quality of these products is excellent for the most part, much of the time being more consistent than much of the “Local” product. Again it varies widely from grower to grower, wholesaler to wholesaler, and this again is why I work closely with my regular suppliers, as they know I am picky and what my expectations are.
I am always very upfront from the beginning with my clients about product quality & availability. The reality is that whether a floral designer is using local, or imported product, we require some flexibility on the bride’s part, as one never knows exactly what has arrived to the market, the exact shade or color, or condition of the product until one picks up one’s order and actually looks at it. I always equate it with being a chef and going to the grocery store, something every bride can relate to. One looks at one’s orders and makes an assessment. If there is something missing or wrong, then you choose something else to make it right, or even better. The market is always full of lovely surprises week to week, and sometimes the best floral designs come out of improvisation, or substitutions. I am still after this many years always excited to get up at 1am on flower day to go and see what is there.
Brides must absolutely trust trust their floral designer to make choices, and let them feel they have the freedom to make substitutions as needed without worrying. They will get better results.
Take a deep breath – you have chosen your particular vendor to create your floral designs for a reason, so let them do their thing and create for you. I always tell my brides I want to “wow” them, and bring them a present. Every thank you note from my past brides is filled with “it was so much more than I expected or could have imagined!” This is what I live for.
This couple chose gorgeous colors that truly complimented the venue, which was in full glorious bloom on this August summer afternoon. The deep purples in the landscaping were perfect. I loved the plum dresses of the bridesmaids. We chose to weave the colors of the wedding flowers, beginning with bouquets in paler softer shades of lavenders and dusty pinks, moving to richer color for the dining table centerpieces.
St Francis Winery is a lovely Sonoma Wine Country setting, designed so as to feel intimate, yet can accommodate larger events. We worked closely with A Dream Wedding, the planner for this wedding, and are thrilled with the photos provided to us by Deb Laver. Thank you Heather & Mike!

These gorgeous dreamy photos from Shannon Stellmacher exude the romance of Megan & Rob’s Calistoga Ranch wedding day this past weekend in the Napa Valley. The bride & groom chose to have an intimate destination wedding of family & friends, all of this was planned from afar. It could not have turned out better. The bride’s white & blush spring bouquet was wrapped with lace, and Perfect Endings created the perfect confection with a similar lace detail overlay. The Wine cave was aglow with mercury glass vases & votives shimmering down the long dining table, holding sprigs of fragrant lilac and lavender rose buds, accenting long containers of all white lush florals creating a floral runner.
Everything was perfection, and it was very exciting to get these photos so soon! I anticipate an incredible video to come from Aaron Lee Films. This wedding was just another example of how hiring the right vendors will make for a seamless perfect wedding day, even long distance. We all are here for you!
